New College, Metz, get an “A” for vegan meal options

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has given New College and Metz Culinary Management an “A” rating for vegan meal options, according to the organization’s website.

PETA uses completed questionnaires and dining hall menus of thousands of colleges and universities across the country to compile its rankings.

PETA reports New College student satisfaction at 80 percent, noting that among other things, Metz offers at least one vegan entree and nondairy milk at every meal, labels vegan entrees and desserts, and includes a vegan member on its student advisory board.

PETA also notes that the average grade for colleges and universities in Florida is a “C.”

Student reviews on the site were generally positive. “Metz has really increased the vegan options this year every station has a vegan option. There entrees on Main plate are really interesting and flavorful. They don’t participate in Meatless Monday but like I said every station every day has a vegan option. Way to Go Metz and Thank you for watching out after us vegans,” one said.
