New Topics – Can You Dig It: Sea Turtle Research and Conservation at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
Tuesday, November 12, 2019,5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EST
Featuring Rachel Smith, Conservation Programs Manager, Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment.
Florida is home to 90% of sea turtle nesting in the country and remains a global hotspot for sea turtle conservation. However, turtles face many threats that require creative solutions. Disney’s commitment to conservation goes back to Walt himself, who famously said, “Conservation isn’t just the business of a few people. It’s a matter that concerns all of us.”
Our commitment is stronger than ever, and our sea turtle conservation and research program at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is wholly representative of this. Join us as we discuss the conservation challenges that sea turtles face, and what Disney is doing to reverse the decline of these charismatic species in the wild.
New Topics is a collaboration of the New College Foundation and New College of Florida. This dynamic community series features national speakers on relevant topics of our time.
