June 26, 2012 — Longboat Key resident George Skestos has been appointed to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees by the Florida Board of Governors for the State University System. Skestos’ term runs through January 6, 2013, completing the term of J. Robert Peterson, who passed away in March.
Skestos is the founder of Homewood Corp., a residential building company based in Columbus, Ohio. He served on the Ohio State University Board of Trustees for nine years, with a one-year term as president. Skestos also served as chairman of the University East Hospital Board. He is a native of Owosso, Mich., and relocated to Longboat Key, Fla., in 2000. He earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s in business administration (MBA), bachelor of laws (LLB) and law degree from the University of Michigan.
Skestos joins a board whose members currently include Bradford Baker, Rick Coe (chair of the faculty), Audrey R. Coleman, Robert M. Johnson, William R. Johnston, Elaine M. Keating, Michael T. Long (student government president), Keith D. Monda, Mary Ruiz (alumna), John W. Saputo, Felice Schulaner (alumna) and Steven Snyder.
