Because the predicted path and intensity of Hurricane Irma remains uncertain, New College of Florida has canceled classes Thursday, Sept. 7, Friday, Sept. 8, and Monday, Sept. 11.
The College has encouraged students to leave campus to be with their families or friends. Students who are unable to leave will be able to shelter on campus in hurricane-resistant buildings. Dining services will remain open. Campus Police staffing will be increased for the duration of the storm.
Although classes will not meet, New College will be open on Thursday. Faculty and staff will conduct regular business and complete storm preparations. The College will be closed as of 8:00 a.m. Friday, except for essential staff, and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.
New College will continue to monitor the hurricane and its aftereffects, and will make decisions about further cancellations and closings as information becomes available. Updates can be found at www.ncf.edu/alerts.
