New coffee bar at New College of Florida

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) – New College of Florida students can now enjoy a new coffee bar, study space and hangout.

The college is celebrating the opening of its new ‘Library Commons’.

A grand opening reception will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6th.

The reception will celebrate the completion of a major renovation to the first floor of Jane Bancroft Cook Library, which is on the New College campus on Bay Shore Road.

The improvements include new furniture and a new layout to accommodate group study, private study and a lounge area.

But the centerpiece of the new Library Commons is a coffee shop, where students and staff can grab a free cup from 8:00-10:00 a.m., and 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

The College distributed 1,000 free coffee mugs to students at the start of the year, in hopes of reducing the use of disposable cups.
