The New College Foundation, the fundraising arm of New College of Florida, has named Kimberly A. Vickers to the position of Associate Vice President of Advancement and Associate Director of the Foundation, effective Oct. 1.
She was most recently senior director of alumnae relations for her alma mater, Agnes Scott College in Decator, Georgia, and previously served as the associate director of admissions and alumni relations for Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
“This is a key position for the New College Foundation,” states the organization’s executive director, MaryAnne Young, to whom Vickers reports. “The post has been absent since the departure of Jessica Rogers last fall, and we really wanted to take our time to refocus the responsibilities and find the right person. Kim brings more than 20 years of development and alumni relations experience in higher education philanthropy to New College. We are delighted to welcome her to the team and know that she will make an enormous contribution to our fundraising strategies and outreach.”
At Agnes Scott, Vickers managed a department that served 12,000 living alumnae. She planned and implemented over 80 regional events a year, an alumnae travel program and a large-scale reunion, and also managed all communications and marketing. She won a 2018 CASE award in alumni programming for national grassroots community service projects.
Vickers states, “Ever since my first job in higher education in 1993, I have worked for schools with a powerful mission and amazing student outcomes. New College fits this profile perfectly and I love its particular uniqueness. In addition, meeting the president, staff, alumni and community members who participated in the interview process really sealed the deal – they all love this place.
“I am thrilled to be here.”
Prior to her most recent positions, Vickers served as the director of development and alumni programs for the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and as alumni relations and special events coordinator for United World College in Montezuma, New Mexico, from which she received an International Baccalaureate.
