Students and members of the community got a rare opportunity to listen and learn from one of the former principal dancers with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, one of the world’s most highly acclaimed performing arts ensembles.
On Oct. 9, continuing a special partnership with the Sarasota Ballet and the Mellon Foundation exploring about the evolution of dance in America, New College invited Michael Trusnovec to campus to speak about Taylor’s piece, “Brandenburgs,” its structural and stylistic elements and how they speak to Mr. Taylor’s dance making. He shared some video excerpts, discussed the staging process, and entertained questions from the audience.
On Oct. 11, he taught a 90-minute master class, showing participants some signature Paul Taylor steps.
