New College of Florida has expanded its footprint over time. Now the city limits in Sarasota have expanded to include growth of the campus. A plan to annex an additional 14 acres of campus into the city was unanimously approved by Sarasota City Commissioners this week. The land has little intensive use now and includes a parking lot behind a Shell station on U.S. 41. The move allows the city to provide all needed services and infrastructure improvements as the state university grows.
